\n\"\"<\/a>The Unexpected Year of Rachel Griffin<\/h1>\n

Back in the long-ago dream time of 2011, when I first started writing this series, I decided to stick with the far future dates that the moderator of the roleplaying game this series is based on had chosen for his game.<\/p>\n

Because of this, The Unexpected Enlightenment of Rachel Griffin opens early in the morning on September 4th, 2023.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right: 2023<\/p>\n

It was so far in the future when I started. I can hardly believe it has actually arrived.<\/p>\n

So this fall, we have the unexpected pleasure of living through the exact same time as the events in the books. I will do my best to post short memorials of these important occasions\u2014without too many spoilers!<\/p>\n

Also, God willing, the\u00a0Sixth Book of Unexpected Enlightenment, Guardians of the Twilight Lands<\/em>, should become available sometimes during the early part of September.<\/p>\n

That\u2019s right, folks, Book Six is almost here!<\/p>\n

Here are a few upcoming dates we can look forward to:<\/p>\n

September 4th \u2014 Rachel wakes up in the middle of the night to hear a Raven talking to a Lion.<\/p>\n

September 8th \u2014 the big battle at the end of Book One.<\/p>\n

Also September 8th \u2014 Book Two begins.<\/p>\n

September 10th \u2014 Rachel meets the Elf and the Raven<\/p>\n

September 29th \u2014 Fighting Veltdammerung at Beaumont in Transylvania\u2014at the end of Book Two<\/p>\n

September 30th \u2014 Book Three begins. Rachel and her friends arrive back at Beaumont\u2026in an unexpected fashion.<\/p>\n

October 31st \u2014 Rachel crashes the Dead Men\u2019s Ball and forgets about the midnight deadline.<\/p>\n

November 13th \u2014 Kidnapped and carried to Tunisia \u2014 End of Book Three<\/p>\n

November 15th \u2014 a visit to Ouroboros Industries along with Gaius and William at the beginning of Book Four.<\/p>\n

December 14th \u2014 Home for Yule Break<\/p>\n

December 17th \u2014 Rachel ducks out on Saturnalia<\/p>\n

December 21 \u2014 Yule<\/p>\n

2024<\/p>\n

January 8th \u2014 back to school<\/p>\n

January 17th \u2014 the disastrous visit to her father\u2019s office.<\/p>\n

February 6th \u2014 the skating party on the ice, and all that ensues there, at the end of Book Four.<\/p>\n

February 9th \u2014 Book Five: Sent out in the middle of the night to help Sigfried. Wishes on a star.<\/p>\n

February 10th \u2014 Goes home to visit her father\u2026with Vladimir, who is unexpectedly questioned by her parents.<\/p>\n

February 24th \u2014 Year of the Dragon Masquerade Ball! (End of Book Five)<\/p>\n

February 25th \u2014 Rachel is nearly stabbed for being a vampire and fights barghest<\/p>\n

February 29th \u2014 Leap Day<\/p>\n

March 6th \u2014 A heist!<\/p>\n

March 7th \u2014 Gaius\u2019s birthday<\/p>\n

March 15th \u2014 Spring Equinox Break<\/p>\n

March 30th \u2014 The Lady Rachel Jade Griffin turns 14!<\/p>\n

March 31st \u2014 something marvelous<\/p>\n

April 1st \u2014 Sigfried\u2019s birthday and a trip to Glastonbury<\/p>\n

April 30th \u2014 Walpurgisnacht, a most unusual game of hurling and so much more<\/p>\n

June 7th \u2014 last day of Rachel\u2019s Freshman year, end of Book Six.<\/p>\n

September 1st \u2014 Opening day of Sophomore year. Opening of the\u00a0Seventh Book of Unexpected Enlightenment, The Young Angels\u2019 Society.<\/em><\/p>\n

So much to come!<\/p>\n

And now, in<\/p>\n

honor of Rachel’s first day, here, three and a half years after Book Five, is the book containing the final adventures of Rachel Griffin’s freshman year:<\/p>\n

An old enemy returns!<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the Heer of Dunderberg dead, Rachel Griffin is determined to save her beloved Roanoke Academy before time runs out, but to do this, a new covenant must be forged with the island’s fairies. On top of this, an old enemy has escaped and might reappear any moment<\/p>\n

Rachel has learned not to wish on stars, but what should she do when she yearns for help? She is troubled by other questions, too: Where do the dead go? What became of her beloved late grandfather? Most annoying of all, with such a wonderful boyfriend, how can she be in love with two boys?<\/p>\n

As her fourteenth birthday approaches, the answer to these questions awaits her, along with wonders such as she has never seen.<\/p>\n

But there are terrible things ahead, too.<\/em><\/p>\n
