Interview with a cat

Here is an interview with a cat by the excellent name of  Sir Edgar Allan Kipling, the magical talking cat extraordinaire from Lydia Sherrer’s A Study in Mischief. He is interviewed by Lydia Sherrer. Being a cat, he has some rather, shall we say, amusing, opinions. Read all about it here!

Name: Sir Edgar Allan Kipling (named after his human’s two favorite poets)

Breed: Domestic Medium Hair (he likes to think he’s descended from Norwegian Forest Cats. Let’s not shatter his dream)

Magical/Special Abilities: According to him, being a cat is all the magic he needs. He was gifted with human intelligence and the ability to communicate with his human (Lily) by a mysterious entity, and he sometimes relays cryptic messages from said entity. Don’t ask him about any of this, he’ll just stare at you blankly and say “cat magic.”

Favorite food: Salmon, or if he can’t get it cream. If the world is in ruins and all else fails, milk will do.

Lydia: So, let’s get started. Sir Kipling, could you take a moment to tell our readers a bit more about this book series?

Sir Kipling: Must I? One would think a set of exceptional book covers is all one would need to become entranced with my story. But if you insist, I suppose I could summarize. Let’s see…Love, Lies, and Hocus Pocus – the Lily Singer Adventures, is an epic tale about a noble cat saving the world from certain doom.

Lydia: …really? Fascinating…except, as the author, I believe I can accurately say that is a very skewed description. Would you mind giving our readers a more balanced version?

Sir Kipling: That IS the balanced version, you humans are all biased…oh fine, it’s a fascinating study of the oddities of human behavior when mixed with magic, and my constant attempts to keep my human out of trouble. There, happy now?

Lydia: Um…sure. So, Sir Kipling, tell us about the main characters of the story: archive manager and wizard Lily Singer, and her troublemaking witch friend, Sebastian Blackwell.

Sir Kipling: You mean the supporting characters? Obviously I’m the main character.

I vaguely recall that I was once on a panel with the author and she said it was set in Georga…but I’m not 100% sure.
