In previous installments the Nightstalkers found themselves battling inter dimensional beings and other nasties. This time around in [easyazon_link asin=”1477821872″ locale=”US” new_window=”default” nofollow=”default” tag=”superversivesf-20″ add_to_cart=”default” cloaking=”default” localization=”default” popups=”default”]Time Patrol[/easyazon_link] the Nightstalkers find themselves trying to prevent the end of history when another secret government organisation, The Time Patrol of the title, has gone missing and the team need to swing into action and work out what has happened before changes in the past wipe out the present.
I thoroughly enjoyed Time Patrol, it is a fun story that starts off at a brisk pace and draws you in as it progresses. One of the things I have always loved about Bob Mayer’s writing is his ability to weave all of the weird bits of history and unexplained things together into his stories. Usually the explanation, in the book, turns out to be aliens, or inter-dimensional beings, or space portals and rifts to other worlds, worthy of an episode of Ancient Aliens or the old In Search Of. I love this sort of stuff and I know there is more rational explanations, when the ideas aren’t made of whole cloth, but Bob has a way of running with them and making the most all the while keeping your disbelief firmly suspended.
