Signal Boost: A Looming Shadow by Yakov Merkin

[easyazon_link identifier=”B077QG4NCT” locale=”US” tag=”superversivesf-20″]A Looming Shadow[/easyazon_link] is the sequel to [easyazon_link identifier=”B071LD7LL8″ locale=”US” tag=”superversivesf-20″]A Greater Duty[/easyazon_link], both of which I edited, and like to think helped to significantly improve. It’s an action-packed tale that follows the hunt for a group of wielders of a mysterious black energy that betrayed the Alliance in the first book, as well as attempts to overcome interplanetary resentments caused by (as well as some preceding) the events of the Tyrranodon invasion. A hero of the first war finds himself out of his depth on multiple levels as he struggles to find his traitorous former leader and stop his nefarious plan.

One of my favourite lines from the book tells you the type of fun that there is to be had:

“Not to worry,” Dran called from the front, “that was only the station exploding.”

If that sounds like something that appeals to you, check it out.
